About Whatcha B. Eaton

I'm mechanical, biomechanical, or human -- mostly human -- depending on my mood and the charge on my power cells. Some call me Wut, others call me W. I'll answer to just about anything especially if there is food involved.

The Washes Turn One

Happy Birthday, Car Wash!

Happy Birthday, Car Wash!

This is a very special day in the life of a young sim, turning over the odometer of SLife. Car Wash is one year old and to celebrate, we’re holding a party. Not only are you invited, you’ll be getting presents! How cool is that?!? But we’re going to make you look for your gifts. Our vendors (who are not only aesthetically pleasing but also wise beyond the ancients), have placed little gift cakes filled with goodies in hard-to-find places.

The first annual “Let Them Eat Cake Hunt” is underway all over the sim (although probably not in the houses — I didn’t get you anything, sorry.)

We’ve got some special musical guests tonight performing live for your listening pleasure (all times SLT):

  • 5 P.M. – Glaisne Osterham
  • 6 P.M. – Wren Hartunian
  • 7 P.M. – krell karu

If you like music (and, if you don’t: what is wrong with you?) you’ll love these performers.

Be sure to stop by the FabFree HQ while you’re here.

See you at the Car Wash!

Best T-Shirt Contest at Car Wash

DJ Leo spins Second Lifes best Funk... and your requests too.

DJ Leo spins Second Life's best Funk... and your requests too.

I’m not one to dress up. I rarely even pick out my clothes… such decisions are best left up to the people in my life who have to look at me for long stretches of time. But there is one article of clothing I can select on my own: a T-shirt. (The tag goes in the back, right?)

Thursday night, as part of an on-going Themed Thursday series, The Car Wash Waiting Room held a “Best T-Shirt Contest.” Shirts of cotton and the occasional poly-blend were all the rage… and rage they did! Here are just a few of the entries:

Congratulations to our winner, Keeba Tammas!

Themed Thursdays take place every Thursday (go figure!) at 6 P.M. Second Life Time at the Car Wash Waiting Room Lounge. Join us, won’t you?

Quick Wash: DJ Bats at Hell Bop Bar

DJ Bats at Hell Bop Bar

DJ Bats at Hell Bop Bar

You can see and — most importantly — hear DJ Bats’ eclectic mix of Psychobilly and Punk almost every Monday night at Hell Bop Bar from 6PM until 8PM. See you in Hell (Bop Bar)!

Welcome to The Washes

Welcome to the official blog for both the Car Wash and The Wash sims in Second Life™. Here you will find information and highlights about All Things Wash including shopping news, event reviews, special features and previews of coming events.

Can you dig it?

Car Wash

The first thing you will notice when you teleport to Car Wash is our fabulous… (wait for it)… car wash and the Waiting Room Lounge. The scene — as the kids once liked to say — here was inspired from the 1976 film of the same name. In keeping with the theme, visitors are encouraged to rez and drive cars along the streets and to use the drive-through car wash in the back.

Buff and wax your ride out front or walk into the Waiting Room to dance the day and night away in the company of our orange-clad Car Wash Crew hosts. You’ll hear tunes from the era with an emphasis on Funk played 24 hours a day on our exclusive music stream or from our live DJs spinning your requests.

Surrounding the Waiting Room Lounge across the street in any direction you’ll find a vast array of shops and recreation. We love our vendors and in the coming days and weeks we’ll feature some of them right here on the blog. In addition to the stores we have an skate rink and a park — perfect spots for gathering with your friends.

Support Your Local Dive Bar

Support Your Local Dive Bar

The Wash

Walk, drive or fly across the bridge to the north to find Hell Bop Bar, SL’s first Psychobilly “dive bar.” Like it’s counterpart in Car Wash, Hell Bop Bar has it’s own unique music stream featuring Psychobilly, Rockabilly and Punk music. This is also the place for special live performances and DJ appearances.

Visitors can play the popular word game “Scramble,” risk their virtual necks on the mechanical bull, dance to the righteous tunes, play darts or belly up to the bar for conversation. There are no official hosts at the bar but you will discover that Hell Bop is the meeting place for a lot of very friendly people. Prepare to be greeted warmly (and often) when a crowd gathers there. Make yourself at home; many of us have.

There are shopping opportunities here as well. Nestled directly next to the bar is Hell Bop Clothing. Pick up an item or two while you’re there and “support your local dive bar” even when you’re away.

Trailer Life in The Wash

Trailer Life in The Wash

Wash Living

Both of our sims have residential sections for pre-fab houses, lots for your own house and a number of trailers if you prefer simpler living in a close community. These properties are extremely popular; vacancies, when they occur, do not usually last for very long. Rentals are first-come, first-served. If you’re interested in living in either of the Washes, check our Rental Office to see what is available or contact Floatie Hock in-world.

Thank you for looking us up. We look forward to seeing you in The Washes.
